Atascocita TX is bordered by Lake Houston and is roughly 30 minutes northeast of downtown Houston. Atascocita was named one of the “Best Places to Retire” by U.S. News & World Report. The population is roughly 66,000 in 2020.

Most homes were built between 200 and 2008, with 11% of housing being even newer. The median home age is just 17 years, much newer than the national average of 40 years.

In mid-2020 the housing market has cooled off and has recently become a buyers’ market. According to Zillow, the average days on market is currently 127. This is double what some other hotter markets are seeing. The absolute tightest markets are seeing around 40ish days on the market.


Alvin is located 24 miles south of downtown Houston and near the Gulf of Mexico. Residents can be either on the water or in a major city in about 30 minutes. Alvin is in Brazoria County, as opposed to most of Houston, which is in Harris County.

The land was originally granted to the Houston Tap and Brazoria Railroad. Nearby attractions include Brazoria County Museum, Space Center Houston, Nolan Ryan Center, and the 1940 Air Terminal Museum. The 2020 population in Alvin is roughly 29,500. The main zip code is 77512.

The median home cost is $167,303 according to NeighborhoodScout. Roughly 23% of homes in the area have been built since 2000.
