Safest Neighborhoods in St. Louis
Unfortunately, when it comes to safe cities in the United States, St. Louis isn’t on the top of the list. That doesn’t mean that you can’t be safe. There are certainly some neighborhoods that will make you feel incredibly safe and we are here to let you know which ones they are.
Webster Groves
Webster Groves is an area that many people flock to in search of a safe suburban area not too far outside of the city. Without traffic, you can get to the heart of the city in about 20 minutes. It is located about 11 miles west of downtown St. Louis. It is safer than 56% of other cities in the United States. Each year this neighborhood experiences about 1 violent crime rate per 1,000 residents. Another perk to this neighborhood is that the community is filled with artists and people in creative fields which helps gives this area its character.
Kirkwood
Kirkwood is another neighborhood worth investigating if you are looking for a safe place to live in the metro area. It is safer than 28% of cities in the United States. Violent crimes here occur once, on average, per 1,000 residents per year. This area is known for its excellent public schools and for having a lot of families with children. If that is important to you then you will likely feel right at home in this neighborhood. Kirkwood is also about 20 minutes away from downtown to the west. It is a bit farther away from downtown than Webster Groves at about 15 miles.
Soulard
Soulard is another neighborhood that is a great option when considering safety in the St. Louis area. Part of what contributes to the well being of its residents is the fact that the median education here is at extremely high levels compared to the rest of the country. The most frequently occurring crime in Soulard is that of personal property. Soulard is one of the closest residential neighborhoods to downtown. It is only two miles south of downtown and will take you only about 10 minutes to get there.
Benton Park
This neighborhood is last on our list of safe neighborhoods in the St. Louis area, but it is certainly not least. Not only is this area safe but it has an abundance of shops, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. It has everything you could possibly need in a neighborhood. In Benton Park, the most frequently occurring crime is property theft. If you are cautious about keeping your valuables hidden and secure you will find living here very enjoyable. This neighborhood is also close to downtown, about 3 miles south, you will be able to drive to the heart of the city in about 10 minutes. This neighborhood is one of the most up and coming in the St. Louis area.
So there you have it, your best bets when it comes to safety in the St. Louis area. There are certainly more but hopefully, this will give you a good starting point in search of the perfect neighborhood where you and your family will feel safe.
