The inside is just as stunning. At the heart of the house is a chef’s kitchen, featuring granite countertops, breakfast bar and a casual dining area with a built-in hutch. In addition to the well-appointed bedroom suites, there’s an exercise room adjacent to the master bedroom.
Two-story stone home in the heart of town ($949,500)
This is as close as it gets to actually living in a castle, without having to move to Europe. This is a two-story, 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom stone mansion located in prestigious Olmos Drive, right in the heart of town.
Of course, it’s loaded to the gills with amenities. Gas cooking, skylights and a breakfast bar adorn a kitchen that would leave most chefs envious. There’s even a wonderful space outside, including a modern swimming pool for cooling off during those brutal south Texas summers and a number of indigenous plants for ambiance.
Elegant, one-of-a-kind architecture in three stories ($875,000)
Architecture buffs or Texas history fanatics will definitely feel at home here. This three-story, 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom estate near Olmos Basin was designed by famed architect Atlee Ayres, who served as the state architect of Texas in the early 20th century and massively influenced home design in San Antonio.
Enjoy high ceilings, crown moulding and large entertaining rooms, which open up to the pool and patio. The kitchen is designed in charming, early 20th century style, featuring a wood burning stove but updated with all-new chrome and stainless steel appliances.
