Famous Celebrities From Chicago
You may be living in Chicago blissfully unaware that you are living in the same state where many a famous people have come from. Many famous celebrities were born in Chicago. You may have been lucky enough to have lived in the same neighborhood or went to the same high school with some of them. Here is a list of some of the most famous people from the Chicago area.
Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford is most well known for his role of Han Solo in “Star Wars” and for his role as Indiana Jones in “Raiders of the Lost Arc.” He had a couple of smaller acting roles in “Ironside” and “The Virginian” in the late 60’s and decided to focus on being a professional carpenter instead of acting for a period of four years. Upon returning to acting, he was very successful in a number of films including, “Blade Runner,’ “Clear and Present Danger,” Apocalypse Now,” and “What Lies Beneath.” Harrison Ford was born in Chicago at Swedish Covenant Hospital in 1942. Harrison Ford has been awarded with the rank of “Life Scout” from the Boy Scouts of America which helped him work with Steven Spielberg on Indiana Jones.
Robin Williams
Robin Williams is a famous actor who began his career as a stand up comedian. He is well known for his roles in “Good Morning Vietnam,” “Aladin,” “Good Will Hunting,” “Hook,””Mrs. Doubtfire,” and “Jumanji.” Robin Williams was born at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago in 1951. He also attended Deer Path Middle School and Gorton Elementary School in Lake Forest. He went on to attend Julliard on a full scholarship. Tragically, Robin Williams was a victim of suicide in August of 2014.
Mr. T
Mr T was an icon in the 80’s known for his mo hawk and gold chains. Mr. T was born in Chicago in 1952 and began his career as a bouncer for one of the most popular nightclubs in Chicago. Mr. T became famous among celebrities because of the popularity of the nightclub he worked at and his reputation. He soon became a bodyguard for stars such as Muhammad Ali and Diana Ross. After building a reputation as a celebrity bodyguard, Mr. T came into contact with Sylvester Stallone who decided to give him a role in Rocky III where Mr. T would play Rocky Balboa’s boxing opponent.
Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton was the First Lady from 1993-2001. She was a U.S. Senator from 2001-2009 and announced that she would run for president in 2007. She became Secretary of State for the Obama administration in 2008. She also announced plans to run for president in 2015. She met former President Bill Clinton while attending Yale Law School. Hillary Clinton was born at Edgewater Hospital in Chicago Illinois in 1947. Hillary Clinton states that she heard a speech from Martin Luther King Jr. in Chicago and was captivated by it. It was this speech in Chicago that motivated her to serve the public.
Michelle Obama
Michelle Obama is First Lady of the United States and the wife of President Obama. Michelle Obama was born in Chicago Illinois in 1964. She went on to attend Princeton and then Harvard Law School. Michelle and Barrack Obama met while working together at a law firm.
